21 March, by Pinkhill lock. Last year's nettles and grasses, on the slopes of a 73m hill squeezed between the Thames and Farmoor reservoir.
The top of the hill is surmounted by a stand of planted trees.
This year's spring blossom had to wait until the end of the cold winter, in contrast to its early arrival last year.
