Twenty years ago Oxford Archaeology's Yarnton project began a nine-year excavation of the ancient settlements between Cassington and Yarnton, remains of which were discovered after the quarrying by Hanson Aggregates (then ARC) for sand and gravel on this site. Post-excavation work has led to advances in understanding Neolithic and Bronze exploitation of the Thames valley.
